IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cruz Elias
& Annemarie Contreras
October 15, 2016
Cruz Elias Contreras 52, and AnnaMarie Contreras 50, were called home to be with Our Lord and Savior on October 15, 2016.
Cruz Elias Contreras was born in Flagstaff, Arizona on October 7, 1964 to Elias and Susana Contreras. AnnaMarie Contreras was born in Flagstaff, Arizona on October 20, 1965 to Oscar and Dolores Espinoza. Cruz and AnnaMarie were together for 36 years and were married for 32 years. They are deeply loved and will be greatly missed by their three daughters, MaryAnn Contreras, Milinda Oberly, Mia Contreras; son-in-law, Trenton Oberly, and grandchildren Kingston and Quynlyn Oberly; Cruz's father, Elias Contreras, Cruz's siblings, Marie, Aurora, Uriel, Alfredo, Joe, Ralph and Ana. They are preceded in death by Cruz's mother, Susana Contreras and his sister, Emily Otero, AnnaMarie's father, Oscar Espinoza and mother, Dolores Espinoza.
Cruz and AnnaMarie had a great love and respect for family, friends and community. They both devoted their lives helping those in need. Cruz worked as a mentor for troubled youth guiding them and giving them hope for a better life. As a sports enthusiast, Cruz also enjoyed coaching soccer. The lessons he taught were valuable life lessons both on and off the field. A friend for life, many called Cruz their best friend including cousins, nephews, childhood friends, neighbors, and biking friends. AnnaMarie worked as an educator for children with special needs. She loved helping children recognize their potential, ultimately helping them gain self-esteem and confidence. Cruz and AnnaMarie were loving, kindhearted, thoughtful, and they both strongly believed in acknowledging everyone's self-worth. They raised their three beautiful daughters to be respectful, compassionate, loving and nonjudgmental young women, values Cruz and AnnaMarie lived by. They adored their grandchildren, Kingston and Quynlyn and devoted their free time playing with them and caring for them. Cruz and AnnaMarie were also foster parents and provided a safe haven for many of Arizona's foster kids. Their doors were always open to everyone.
Cruz and AnnaMarie were free and happy spirits. They were high school sweethearts and were never apart. They loved traveling, dancing, hosting parties, attending a variety of events and riding on the weekends. They lived every day to the fullest. The love they gave us and the memories we have of Cruz and AnnaMarie will live in our hearts forever.
