Daniel Michael McDonald, 65, passed away in Flagstaff on May 11, 2016.He was born to Harold and Virginia McDonald on July 28, 1950 in Fort Hood, Texas.
Daniel was a tool-maker for W.L. Gore & Associates and celebrated his 35th anniversary in December 2015.He received a diamond pin and the opportunity to enjoy a pizza lunch with many of his associates.
Daniel served in the Air National Guard from 1968 to 1974 and was involved in the Battle of Detroit.He was also active in the Doney Park Neighborhood Watch, where friends and neighbors gather together and share information, the Vipers and the Republican party.
Danny loved to fly kites from a very young age.They cost ten cents and you could get them from the corner store.Anyone that knew Danny knew that he was also a life-long baseball fan.He will tell you that Sr. John Boscoe had to chase all the boys back to class after lunch-break because they needed to finish the inning.Danny also enjoyed hunting and fishing and hiking in Padre Canyon, his own backyard.
Survivors include his long time friend Maura Fahey and the daughter he always wanted, Elizabeth (Fahey) Grosenick and her husand Mark Grosenick, (Flagstaff, AZ), sisters Virginia L. McDonald (aka Ginny) from Westland, Michigan, Mary Ann (McDonald) McCarron of Flagstaff, AZ, brothers Michael McDonald, (Wayne, Michigan), and Joseph McDonald (Bellingham, WA).Nieces Jamie L. McCarron, Dustine M. (McCarron) Samaniego, her husband Jeffry Samaniego. and great niece Brooklyn Samaniego, all of Peoria, and Kristen McDonald (Garden City, Michigan).
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents Harold J. McDonald and Virginia A. (Klosowski) McDonald, brothers James Patrick McDonald and Stephen Eugene McDonald, many friends and associates; Tommy Snyder, Rudy Rea, Dan Harkey, Bob Halager, Jason Palamer and this brother John McKeown.
Donations may be made to the Coconino County Humane Association on behalf of Daniel.
Services will take place on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at Lozano's Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth Street, Flagstaff, AZ.
