DAVID CHAVEZ ESTRELLA 84, passed away on March 7, 2012, he was born on July 18th 1927 in Flagstaff Arizona to Cruz Rodriguez Estrella and Dolores Chavez Estrella. He is the 2nd eldest of 11 brothers and sisters and is survived by sister Annie Gary and brother Paul (Linda) sons and daughtersDavid Estrella Smith, Abel Estrella(Pam), Fernando David Estrella(Lu), Rosann Romero(Steve), Richard Estrella(Cheri), Evelyn Estrella(James), Toni Estrella(David), Teresa Greenwalt (Paul), Cecelia Ruiz (Victor), Ernie Estrella(Patty)and James Estrella.He is also survived by 29 grand children 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
David lived all his life in Flagstaff. He entered the Army Air Corp in July 1945 and was part of the first occupation forces of Japan at the end of World War II. "Gramps" worked in the sawmill industry for 50 years retiring in the year 2000 at age 72. David was a big baseball fan and was an avid Los Angeles Dodger fan until the Arizona Diamondbacks came to Arizona. Gramps was an excellent cook, obtaining some of his skills preparing pitted beef barbeques for sawmill employees in the annual Fireman's Southwest Forest Industries summer picnic.
ALICE FLOREZ ESTRELLA 74, completed her life in her home on June 13, 2005, she was born in Winslow Arizona to Jose Florez and Vicenta Rodriquez Florez. She is the eldest of 8 brothers and sisters. She is survived by brothers and sisters, Sally Villalpando (Mike), Louie Florez, Johnny Florez (Sugar), Natividad Verdusco, and Juanita Florez.Alice was an accomplished seamstress, and worked at Wayne L Troutner's in Winslow before marrying David Estrella in 1952. Mom was industrious and after working in a number of positions including Snowflake Laundry she built owned and operated Estrella Laundry and Dry Cleaning in 1971 until her death in 2005.Mom loved to dance and travel, family had a hard time keeping up with her in both areas. With gramps passing he joins mom, dancing in the clouds!
A funeral mass for David C. Estrella will be held at the St. Pius X Chapel, 2257 E. Cedar Ave. at 12 noon Saturday March 17, 2012. Condolences may be sent directly to the family
