Della Rose Mungazi died on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the age of 74 after fighting a short illness with cancer.

She was born January 16, 1938 in Zimbabwe, Africa to Matthew and Esnath. While in Zimbabwe she was a practicing nurse for 10 years. She then came to the United States in 1974 with her then husband Dickson and her 3 children, Marcia, Alan and Gaylord (T.C.).

She received 3 degrees; an associate's degree from Southeast Community College in Lincoln Nebraska, a bachelors' degree from the University of Nebraska and a Masters degree from Northern Arizona University all were in early childhood education.

Della became a pre-school teacher at Peace Lutheran School in Flagstaff. She retired from teaching in 2000, but continued to be active. She loved volunteering, gardening, walking at Buffalo Park, swimming at the Aquaplex and taking trips with the flagstaff Adult Center. She was also a member of the exercise group "The Silver Sneakers". On Sundays you would find her worshiping at Trinity Heights Methodist Church where she met lifelong friends and was a member for 24 years.

She was a devoted mother and is survived by her daughter Marcia, sons Alan and Gaylord (T.C.), brothers Jarvis, Blessing, Zebedia, Samuel and Daniel, also sisters Gloria and Florance, many nephews, nieces, cousins and a lot of loving friends.

Della is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sandra and sister Thelma and Emma.

Funeral Service will be Friday, June 1, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Trinity Heights Methodist Church, 3600 N. Fourth Street, interment will be Saturday at 11:00 am at Citizens Cemetery.
