Elma Ramos Brown, wife, mother & grandmother, died on March 12, 2016 in Flagstaff, AZ from complications related to Parkinson's Disease.She was 74.
Elma was born on January 17, 1942 in Del Rio, TX to the late Juana and Manuel Ramos.After graduating from Sul Ross State University, she became a beloved teacher of elementary special education in Del Rio, TX.She taught for 42 years, and retired as a school district diagnostician. She was an avid bowler for many years. Elma dedicated much of her time volunteering for the American Cancer Society, Special Olympics, St. Joseph's R.C. church, and her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi.After moving to Flagstaff nine years ago to be near her grandchildren, she continued to serve those in need with compassion and care through her years of service with the society of St. Vincent de Paul.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, James L. Brown; daughter, Laura Nicol (Brad) of Flagstaff; son, Robert Brown of Phoenix; grandchildren Adam, Ana, and Aaron Nicol; sisters Delia Cantú (Antonio) of San Antonio, TX and Angela Reyes (Antonio) of Colorado Springs, CO; and brothers Juan Ramos (Ana) of Gaithersburg, MD and José Ramos (Rosa Elena) of Eagle Pass, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deborah; and sister Manuelita Ramos Suarez.
A rosary and visitation will be held on Friday, March 18th at 7pm, and a funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 19th at 11:00am, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel, Flagstaff, AZ.Internment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
