Obituary

Federico "Perico" Avila, 82, passed away in Flagstaff, Arizona on August 13, 2016.He was born on April 3, 1934 in Williams.

Perico served in the Army during the Korean War.He was active in the American Legion Cordova Post 13 and served as Post Commander.Most recently he served as the Post Chaplain.

Perico was a die-hard Phoenix Suns fan.His biggest passion was his painting and was dedicated and devoted to helping other veterans.He retired from the Kaibab National Forest Service.

Perico is survived by his former spouse, Irene Quiroz, sons Freddie (Gina), Javier, Jaime and Orlando.Grandchildren Josh Lester, Orlando Jr., Alyssa, Freddie, Michelle, Frankie Avila, and their mother Cynthia.Nieces Madlyn Bothmer, Cathy Brobst, Monica Glassburn and other numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his wife Gloria, parents Jose and Juanita, sisters Ruth and Socorro, brothers Zeke and Manuel.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Legion Post of your choice or any other veteran's organization.

A visitation will be held Thursday, August 18th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Williams from 5 pm to 7 pm.A Holy Rosary will be held on Friday at 9:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a funeral mass following at 10:00 am.Burial will follow at the Williams Cemetery.
