IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry Fajardo
Cancino
July 27, 1933 – April 20, 2025
Henry F. Cancino, 91, of Flagstaff, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, in the company of his loving family.
Born on July 27, 1933, in Williams, Arizona, Henry was the child of Louis and Maria "Siria" Cancino. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sisters Lily Cancino and Jessie Cancino; and brothers Edward Dallago, Louis Cancino, and Frank Baldonado.
Raised in Flagstaff, Henry attended South Beaver Elementary School and graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1952. Shortly after, Henry served in the U.S. Army, completing boot camp just before the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed on his birthday in 1953. He was deployed to Germany before returning home to care for his ailing parents. Henry dedicated over 37 years, and an additional four part-time summers, to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).
Henry and Mary wed on June 19, 1965, celebrating nearly 60 years of marriage. They raised three children: Patricia (John) Sanchez, Laura (Tony) Popovich, and Phillip (Cathy) Cancino. Henry also cherished his grandchildren: Jacob Popovich (Thalia Kunelis), Brendon Popovich, Christina Cancino, Andrea Cancino, and Esteban Cancino.
Henry's quick wit, encyclopedic knowledge of world facts, and passion for sports made every conversation lively and memorable. If you had a favorite team, you might find him rooting for the other side just to make it interesting. He also had a passion for music, having taught himself to play the guitar.
Henry's legacy of kindness, thoughtful advice, humor, and commitment to family and faith will continue to live on through those fortunate enough to have known him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
