Obituary

Hermanis C. Ulibarri, 84, of Flagstaff, Arizona, passed away peacefully at his home on January 14, 2026, in Flagstaff.

Hermanis was born on November 23, 1941, in St. Johns, Arizona. He spent his life rooted in Northern Arizona and was well known throughout the Flagstaff community.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1970. After his military service, Hermanis worked as a barber, a profession through which he built lifelong friendships and served his community. He was also a musician and a self-taught guitarist who loved sharing music with others.

Hermanis was deeply involved in his community. He served as Commander of the American Legion Post 3 Color Guard, was a leader of Los Rayos del Norte Band, and a former president of the Ulibarri Reunion. He was especially known for his generosity and often volunteered his time by giving free haircuts to those in need.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Elise M. Ulibarri, whom he married on March 11, 1967; his sons Leo M. Ulibarri and Marc Ulibarri; and his daughters-in-laws Christine Ulibarri and Delilah Ulibarri; his sisters Priscilla Lopez, Evelyn Ramirez, and Virginia Salazar; and his brothers Herman Ulibarri and Phillip Ulibarri. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jessica Ulibarri, Shane Ulibarri, Ryan Ulibarri and Lauren Ulibarri, and his great-grandchildren Wyatt, Isaiah, Iyla and Maci Ulibarri.

Hermanis was preceded in death by his parents Sabino and Nora Ulibarri; his brothers Ruben, Clofis, Edward, Eugene, and Louis Ulibarri; and his sisters Zela Moyta and Christina Gallegos.

A visitation will be held at Lozano's Mortuary on January 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at San Francisco de Asís Church on January 29, 2026, with the Rosary at 10:00 a.m., Mass at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Camp Navajo in Bellemont, AZ.

Hermanis will be remembered as a gentle soul, a devoted husband and father, a proud Veteran, and a man whose kindness, service, and music touched many lives.
