Obituary

On the morning of October 10, 2018, James "Jim/Jimmy" Barela Sedillo lost his brave battle
with cancer. Jim was born December 16, 1936 to Eleanor Barela and Aban Sedillo in McNary,
Arizona. The family, including his eight siblings moved to Flagstaff when Jim was 14 years old.
Jim graduated from Flagstaff High school in 1954; he then joined the National Guard Reserve
while working at several dry cleaning business including Brownie's Cleaners, Plaza Cleaners
and Bob's Cleaners. Jim and Nora, his wife of 60 years, bought Ferrell's Cleaners in Kachina
Square and re-christened it "Sedillo Cleaners". Sedillo Cleaners was a Flagstaff staple and
favorite to the community for over 23 years until Jim and Nora retired in 1998. After retirement
Jim and Nora spent a great deal of time caring for friends, family and strangers in the
community who were in need, until Jim fell ill about a year ago.

In addition to giving of his time and assets to causes and people in need, Jim was a passionate
fisherman, exploring many of the lakes surrounding Flagstaff with his fishing buddies. Jim
spent much of his later years playing cards at home with his family and rolling the dice at
nearby casinos. Jim's greatest joy came from spending time, not only with his extensive
immediate family but with his many siblings telling jokes, playing guitar and singing.
Jim is survived by his wife, Nora; their four children Loretta Padilla (Tony), Maria Marquez
(Saul), Joaquin Sedillo (Craig) and Paula Sedillo (William); eight grandchildren, Shannon Padilla
(Andy), Bryan Padilla, Alejandra Hernandez (Omar), Laura Sotelo (JR), Alex Magana, Kenny
Magana, Josh Doughty and Alaina Ott; and seven great grandchildren, Nathan Sotelo, Alexa
Sotelo, Julianna Sotelo, Liam Worley, Oliver Worley, Emery Ularte and Simon Gregory
Hernandez.

Jim is also survived by his four siblings, Cruz Jaramillo (Paul (d.), Fernando Sedillo (Rosie),
Emily Santellanes (Mike Sr.), and Ralph Sedillo (Bea). He as preceded in death by siblings
George Sedillo (Armida), Lily Bernal (Tony (d.), Bobby Sedillo (Doris (d.) and Tony Sedillo
(Nancy).
