Jeffrey Charles Pickens (age 43) finished his long, painful journey with terminal illness on May 24th, 2026. He passed away in his home in Bellemont, AZ, while holding his wife’s hand. In the presence of the Lord, he is now able to experience the full vibrance of God and be free from the burden of disease.
Jeff was born on January 31st, 1983 in Newport Beach, California to Chris and Diane Pickens. Jeff’s life is marked by life-long friends and deep love for family, including his church family.
In addition to National Parks, Jeff became enthralled with the hiking trails and mountain views of Flagstaff, AZ. With camera in hand, he focused on photography in nature. He eagerly anticipated every October, as the Aspens shifted into vibrant yellow hues, and Maples into bright shades of red and orange.
Jeff was talented at so many things, yet very humble about it. He exceeded at baseball since a young age. Jeff excelled in his 15 year career at Apple, and then later at BB Dental Consulting. Jeff graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from California State University Long Beach.
He had refined taste in food (particularly BBQ) and enjoyed wine tasting. Jeff loved his church, studying theology and listening to hymns.
Jeff loved his family life tremendously, with his pride and joy being his 5 year old daughter Johanna. She is the apple of his eye, and she loves her daddy deeply. She asked if daddy has his phone with him in heaven, so she can call him to say she misses him.
Jeff is survived by his best friend and wife, Rachel Pickens, 5 year old daughter Johanna Pickens; step children Arielle Janicin and Miles Janicin.
Jeff is also survived by his endearing mother, Diane Pickens, and brothers Justin Pickens (Meghan), Jonathan Pickens (Jolee), and Josh Pickens (Amanda); nieces Selah and Rae Pickens,
grandmother Gloria Stullich, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Jeff is survived by his step-mother Michele Goodall, step-brothers Michael and Matthew.
Jeff is also survived by his beloved in-laws Gary Balok, Becky Balok, and brother-in-law Mark Balok (Lori).
