Kim Marie Hanson, age 49, succumbed to cancer on September 21, 2016 after a 13 month fight.Born in White Plains, New York, she has lived in Arizona since 1987.A graduate of Boulder High School in Boulder, Colorado, student at Arizona State University and graduate of Mesa Community College, she is survived by husband Steven Douglas Hanson, sons Joshua (20) and Jonah (14), mother Judith Ann Whaley (Glendale, AZ), father Henry Arthur Baier (North Carolina), and sister Sherry Smith (Denver, Colorado).She was employed by Flagstaff Unified School District, most recently at Sinagua Middle School as a Teacher's Aide.During her years in Flagstaff she participated in volunteer activity for Northern Arizona Builders Association, Boy Scouts of America, Goodwill Industries, Special Olympics and LaLeche League.She was passionate about recycling, gifting, remembering others' birthdays and anniversaries as well as documenting her boys' events.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 9:30 to 12:30 at Lozano's Flagstaff Mortuary.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
