Larry Francis Smith, 71, of Flagstaff, died Tuesday, November 24, 2010.
Larry was born September 10, 1939 in Albuquerque, NM to Lorenzo and Bertha (Bia) Smith.
He was the First Native American U.S. Marshall, before joining the Marshall Service he was a Detective with the Navajo Police Department and the Holbrook City Police Department. He is recorded in the Congressional Record. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, watching his grandchildren play sports and was a Pow-wow Gourd dancer. He was a member of the Elks and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Larry is survived by his spouse Mary Ann, daughters Lorri, of Flagstaff, Tweet (Terence) of Prescott Valley, Rose (Vance) of Billings, MT, son Sonny (Kristin) of Flagstaff, 7 grandchildren,mother Bertha Smith, sister Geraldine, brother Delfred
He is preceded in death by his father Lorenzo Smith, brother Lawrence Smith, Grandmother Katherine Bia
Evening Vigil and Holy Rosary will be held Friday, November 26, 2010 at 7:00 pm at St. Pius X Center, 2257 E. Cedar Ave., Flagstaff, AZ Burial will be held Saturday November 27, 2010 at Calvary Cemetery at 9:00 am followed by the Memorial Mass at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Center.
A pot luck luncheon will be held following the service a dish to be shared will be greatly appreciated.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Fallen Police Officer Charities.
