Louis Paul Doctor

Louis was born on August 7, 1957 in Bellemont, Arizona. Louis was Tsi’naajinii, born for Táchiiʼnii, his cheii Áshįįhí, and his nálí was Dibé Łizhiní. Louis went on his journey after a short battle with gallbladder cancer on June 13, 2026.

Louis was from Tolani Lake and grew up in Flagstaff where he attended Coconino High School and later Page High School. Louis lived in many places in Arizona and Southern California, as well as Salt Lake City and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Louis spent many years on the powwow trail as a powwow singer. He sang with many Northern style drum groups, including Four Sacred Mountain, High Noon, and Blackfoot Crossing.

He is survived by his wife Melanie Doctor; children Kesheena, Kimberly, Miles, Kilohi; grandchild David Doctor; stepchildren Michael McGahey, Julian Kahpeaysewat, David (Shanice) Wuttunee, Janice (Amin) Wuttunee; siblings Oscar (Ellen) Doctor Jr., Linda (George) Baloo, Michael Doctor, Kyle (Sharon) Doctor, and Marjorie (Jesse) Delmar.

He is preceded in death by his parents Oscar Doctor, Sr. and Roberta Doctor.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 17th, at Lozano’s Mortuary in Flagstaff, AZ at 10am. His burial will be at 11am at Citizen's Cemetery.

A reception will follow at the Murdoch Community Center from 12pm - 2pm.
