Margaret Anne "Maggie" Friend, aged 66, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015.She was born in Hannibal, Missouri on June 21, 1948 to Louie and Weige Friend.Maggie grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois and attended the public school system, graduating from Maine South High School in 1966.She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana graduating with a degree in English Education in 1970.She taught at Ed 2, an alternative school, in the Champaign area for three years before relocating to San Francisco.

Maggie worked as a typesetter in the Bay Area for five years before moving to El Salvador to teach English and act as the Librarian in an Embassy School in San Salvador.After 10 years she moved back to the Bay Area and worked in the public schools as a Librarian and Technology Director.Maggie retired in 2010 and spent the remaining years in Benicia, CA.She loved to read and travel and was always looking for the next book to read or country to visit.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Weige Friend and is survived by her brother Robert and his wife Christine, and their two adult daughters Mercedes and Madeline.
