Obituary

Margueritte Jeanette "Jeanie" Guido

December 29, 1940 - November 9, 2024

Jeanie Guido passed away on November 9, 2024. Jeanie was born in Lorraine, Ohio in 1940, moved to Florida when she was 11, and then moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana a few years later. Jeanie, always a hard worker, began her career as a church secretary, then became a police station secretary, and eventually had a long and successful career in Texas with various engineering companies as a project expediter. She moved to Flagstaff in 2003 and worked for Flagstaff Design and Construction for many years, eventually retiring at the age of 72. She also volunteered at Sharon's Attic and attended Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation.

My siblings and I knew her best as the "World's Greatest Mom". She worked tirelessly to support us, as a single mom most of the time, creating wonderful holiday memories for us. Most of all, she had a huge heart and bestowed great love upon her children and friends. She was a very positive person, despite a rough upbringing, and she always saw the best in everyone. Her last few years were spent at The Peaks of Flagstaff where everyone knew her singing voice.

Jeanie was an incredible singer and could harmonize with any melody on the spot. She sang all through high school and won awards for her beautiful voice, even singing opera for a little while in Oklahoma. She was also an animal lover, and would never choose between dogs and cats, saying you needed at least one of each. She loved bunnies as well and had a large bunny figurine and stuffed toy collection.

Jeanie will forever be remembered as a devoted mother, doting grandmother, caring friend, and loving pet owner. Her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will continue to inspire all fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul find eternal peace and her memory live on in our hearts. "Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us daily. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, missed, and very dear."

She is survived by: her children, Martha Van Egdom, Chris Cooper, Katherine Whitacre, and Karen Hinkel; her grandchildren, Tanner Hinkel and Grace Garcia; and her dog, Mikey. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Van Egdom, and her grandson Taylor Hinkel.

A celebration of her life will be held on December 7, 2024, at 2:00 pm at:
