Mary “Tootsie” Ferguson Yakimovicz

August 15, 1925 – July 28, 2026

Mary “Tootsie” Ferguson Yakimovicz, 100, entered the pearly gates of heaven on July 28, 2026—no doubt letting St. Peter know he needed to polish the gates again.

Born in Littlefield, TX, as the youngest of seven children to Frank and Maria Yohner, Mary lived a life defined by faith, family, and a spunky spirit. In 1942, she married Willie (Bill) Ferguson, and they raised a wonderful son, Dr. Ron Ferguson. After living in Mineral Wells, they moved to Fort Worth in the 1960s. Mary was a dedicated volunteer at Texas Health Resources (formerly Harris Methodist Health System), where her commitment earned her prestigious "diamond status."

Following Bill's passing, Mary found love a second time, marrying Frank Yakimovicz in Fort Worth in 1982. Together, they traveled widely and spent hours researching her German genealogy. Known for her impeccable organization, Mary kept everyone in order and ensured everything was in its proper place. She had a nurturing soul, which showed through her beautiful plants, her welcoming home, and her faithful dedication to keeping in touch with loved ones through phone calls and handwritten letters. Above all, she fiercely loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and carried a deep, lifelong love of God.

Mary is survived by her grandchildren, Abigail Hansen, Will Ferguson, Connor Ferguson, Aaron Ferguson, and Blake Ferguson; daughter-in-law, Karen Ferguson; stepchildren, Ann Yakimovicz (Steve), Frank Yakimovicz, Jr. (Jill), and Carole Johnson; and many extended family members.

She was reunited in heaven with her husbands, Willie G. Ferguson and Frank G. Yakimovicz; her beloved son, Dr. Ron Ferguson; her parents Frank and Maria Yohner along with her six siblings, Peter, Mike, Bill, Jennie, Fronie, and Rita.

The family expresses deep gratitude to Northern Arizona Hospice and the care partners at Highgate Senior Living - The Cottage for their exceptional care over the last four years.

Rosary and Mass will be held in Flagstaff at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church on Wednesday August 5, 2026. Rosary begins at 10:00am. Mass at 10:30am. The family will host refreshments after Mass. A graveside memorial will be held in the future in Weatherford, TX.
