Milt Schroeder

Milt Schroeder, 78, died Sunday, April 10, 2011.
Born in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 2, 1933 to Paul and Cora Schroeder, Milt attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon where he played college basketball and met his wife of 50 years, Diana Schroeder. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58, and afterwards in the U.S. Army Reserves. After attending graduate school at Reed College in Portland and earning his doctorate from the University of Denver in 1966, Milt moved his family to Flagstaff to become Assistant to then NAU President Lawrence Walkup. Later he became Dean of Admissions & Records, a position he held until his retirement in 1981. Milt enjoyed further success as a Real Estate Broker with Schroeder Realty until his second retirement in 2007.
With a deep commitment to education and the Flagstaff community, Mr. Schroeder was active in several commissions and organizations including those with Northern Arizona University, The City of Flagstaff, United Way (President), Route 66 Rotary Club (President), Elks, and Masons.
Milt loved basketball, playing golf and classic sports cars, but above all, his family was the most treasured joy in his life.
Milt is survived by his son Kurt Schroeder and partner Jennifer Schaber, of Flagstaff; and son Mark Schroeder, his wife Mary and grandsons Eric and Jonathon, of Glendale. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Schroeder in 2010.
A graveside burial service will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 2:00pm, at Calvary Cemetery. Friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Milt's life with his family. In lieu of flowers, it would have been Milt's wishes that donations be made to local charities.
