IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Allen
Dickson
May 15, 1953 – December 9, 2023
Robert (Bob) Allen Dickson formerly of Grass Lake, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 9, 2023, near his winter destination of Williams, Arizona.
Bob was born May 15, 1953, at St. Joseph Hospital in Ypsilanti, MI. He was raised in the Waldron, Ann Arbor, and Chelsea, Michigan areas. He graduated in 1971 from Chelsea High School in Chelsea, MI. On August 30, 1974, he married Dorothy Ellen Bristle of Dexter, Michigan, and they raised a daughter and two sons in Grass Lake, Michigan. After the passing of his beloved wife Dorothy in 1996, Bob took to the road on life's adventures.
Bob was a wizard with anything mechanical. In his teen years, cars and motorcycles were his main interest, buying, fixing, and re-selling. Many nights he fell asleep in his parents' garage with a wrench in his hand. In his twenties and beyond, Bob worked in the print media industry, working in Dexter and Ann Arbor at notable printing businesses including Adair and Kolossos. Later in his printing career he would troubleshoot and repair large printing presses all over the United States and in Germany.
Prior to retiring, Bob acquired his private pilot license with instrument rating. He was also a commercial truck driver, and an amazing carpenter as was his father. In his later years he was a nomad, a solitary man; logical with a little bit of crazy mixed in just to make life fun. As a retiree, he would travel between Michigan and various parts of Arizona, including Williams and Quartzsite, spending hours prospecting for gold and gemstones as a hobby.
Bob is survived by his daughter Michelle Dickson of Ypsilanti, MI, and sons Lewis (Carrie) Dickson of Maplewood, MN, and Joseph Dickson of Lansing, MI. Also surviving are brother John (Sharon) Dickson of White Lake, MI, sister Lisa Dickson-Ragen of Knoxville, TN, grandchildren Amanda, Ayisha, Christopher, Kai, Rei, and Ari, and great-grandchildren Cayden and Atlas. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Ellen (Bristle) Dickson, parents Curtis Floyd Dickson, Sr. and Ernestine Mary (Barth) Dickson, and two brothers James Dickson and Curtis Dickson, Jr.
A family memorial gathering is being planned for summer 2024 with no formal services at this time. For information about the gathering, email: robertdickson.estate@gmail.com
