Robert J. (Bob) McCauley, 80, passed away very early Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Living ( formerly Loyalton),his home in Flagstaff since 2005.Robert was born January 29, 1935 in New York City, son of Sylvester (Frank) and Margaret Rose McCauley of Millburn, New Jersey.The family moved to Queens (in New York City) at the start of World War II and Robert attended La Salle Academy.After graduation, Robertserved in the U.S. Army, 1954-1957 (during the Korean War) and in 1974 Robert married Alice McGuire McFarlane of Greenock, Scotland.
In 1987 Robert left the New York area and settled in Sedona.There he worked as a clerk at Basha's market until disabled by poor health, and moved to Flagstaff.At Loyalton he was known for his love of books, and especially European history.He was "Uncle Bob " to his nephews James, John, and Bill McCauley and his niece Kim McCauley Burns (Randy) and their mother Cam McCauley of Flagstaff.In 2012 Robert was predeceased by his brother, Dr. John F. McCauley of Flagstaff and Sedona.Robert leaves his son Raymond Stuart McCauley and his daughter, Rosemarie McCauley McNicol (Jason) and their sons Ryan Robert, Alex Kenneth, and Blair Jack, and his former wife Alice, now all of Scotland, U.K. and his sister-in-law Carol Breed McCauley of Flagstaff.Bob will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.Interment will take place in the Veterans Section at Flagstaff Citizens Cemetery in early August
