Obituary

SSGT Jonathan Davis, while valiantly defending our country, lost his life in Afghanistan on February 22, 2013. SSGT Davis was born on March 11, 1978 in Tuba City, AZ, to Albert Davis and Lula Seaton. SSGT Davis attended and graduated, Class of 1997, from Monument Valley High School, Kayenta, AZ; there he met and married his high School sweetheart Helena, and together, have one son, Calvin. Highly devoted to his beloved Marine Corps, SSGT Davis only showed more devotion to two others...his wife and son, whom he loved and cherished above all. When not deployed or serving his country stateside, SSGT Davis was an avid fisherman; he was also a prankster who was fond of teasing everyone he cared about. From the words of his wife Helena, "He was one of the only men I knew who dreamt a dream and went out to accomplish it. He was fearless and the most courageous of warriors." Services for SSGT Davis will be held at the Kayenta Community Cemetery, Kayenta, AZ, on Saturday, March 02, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. We also would like to include quotes from his fellow Marines...

"A great man and a leader of men...you will be missed by a grateful nation and by those, like me, who you have mentored and taught. See you at the gate."

"An American Hero. My mentor, my boss, but more importantly my friend. Never forget and never for nothing. I love you man."

"He is not gone. He is waiting for us at the rally point."

"The Corps has lost a great Marine as have all of us who knew and cared for him. SSGT Davis, you will be greatly missed, my friend. I know you're looking out for us from heaven as you did when you were with us."

Services under the direction of the Marine Corps, Desert Memorial Funeral Home, and Lozano Funeral Home.

Greater love hath no man but this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
