Walter Dalegowski
Walt, passed away Saturday January 29, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on December 11, 1922 in Scranton, Pa. Of Polish parents, Stanislaus and Helen. He was only 88 years old.
He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII working on P38 aircraft for the 54th Fighter Squadron. The first time he saw Flagstaff he was traveling through on a troop train. It was also the first time he had ever seen a mountain.
After the war he moved to Kingman and began learning the auto body trade. He moved to Flagstaff and has been a resident for over 56 years. He worked for Jim Babbitt Ford for over 32 years and after retirement worked for Heath's Paint Center delivering paint.
He loved flying, collecting memories, traveling, Laughlin and most of all he loved his family. He always had a twinkle in his eye, especially when teasing someone.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Dorothy, Sister Annette (Ralph) of Farmington, New Mexico, Sister-in-law Mary Dalegowski of Flagstaff, Brother-in-law Joseph DeStephano of Yorba Linda, California Sons Charlie (Cathy) DeStephano of San Diego, David (Flora) of Cleburne, Texas, Mark (Terry) of Cleveland Tennessee, Chuckie Kline of Phoenix and daughters Mary Ann Scott of Flagstaff, Darla Marcum of Glendale, Sarah Florman of Mesa and Rachel Cline of Casa Grande, 18 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday the 5th of February at Lozano's Flagstaff Mortuary 2545 N. 4th Street beginning at 2 pm.
In lew of flowers the family asks that you donate to the Hospice Compassus in Walts name.
